Pot For Foodstamps

Not only did Colorado pass legal marijuana but now it seems that the government is now gonna allow stores in Colorado the ability to accept Food Stamps for weed.

ebtcard_sign-300x180In all, 136 licenses have been approved by the state of Colorado for retail operations for the purposes of selling marijuana. A majority of those licenses were issued to businesses in Denver with just eighteen city stores completing the process in time for opening day. One of those shops, Rite Greens, located on E. Colfax Ave in Denver, has taken the steps needed to accept food stamps (now called EBT cards) for the purposes of purchasing marijuana effectively leading to taxpayer funded marijuana for welfare recipients.

“If you are a tax payer in Colorado, you get to pay for welfare recipients, a majority of whom are Democrats of course, to smoke pot now,” stated Denver resident Paul Horner. “Where will this all end? First it was Obamaphones, then Obamacare, now Obamaweed? Will we be paying for tattoos, manicures, body piercings, gay marriages and porn next?”

Store owner JC Franco defended his decision to accept EBT cards in an interview with National Report: “Everyone should have access to marijuana. If a user is not able to afford their buds on a limited budget then having taxpayers help cover the shortage is only fair. This isn’t a right only for the wealthy.”

Electronic Benefit Transfer cards — part of the Department of Agriculture’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program — are typically of two general categories: food and cash benefits. Franco was able to take advantage of a loophole in the SNAP program as his shop sells a wide array of “edible” marijuana ranging from cookies and brownies to barbeque sauce and homemade butter.

NY To Allow Limited Use Of Marijuana

While it won’t be completely legal like in Colorado and more strict than California it seems New York governor Andrew Cuomo has had an about face regarding medical marijuana. Once against medical weed, Cuomo will reveal a plan this week to allow medical marijuana in New York.

gavel-marijuana-300New York would become the 21st state to allow medical use of marijuana under an initiative Gov. Andrew Cuomo will unveil this week.

Cuomo plans to use administrative powers rather than legislative action to allow a limited number of hospitals to dispense marijuana for certain ailments. He will formally announce his plans in his state of the state speech Wednesday.

In states that permit medical marijuana, it is commonly prescribed for chronic pain, nausea from cancer chemotherapy, glaucoma and some other conditions. Other controlled substances like narcotics are already authorized for medical use in New York.

Although marijuana remains illegal in New York, possession of small amounts has been reduced to a low-level violation subject to a fine.

The Drug Policy Alliance, which was briefed on the Cuomo plan Saturday, said it would be a huge change, but New York should still enact legislation authorizing a state medical marijuana program that has been blocked so far by the state Senate’s Republicans.

Walker’s body was laying supine in the passenger seat in a “pugilistic stance” — that’s a defensive position, as if he were bracing himself for impact.

Roger Rodas — the driver — suffered major head trauma with the top portion of his skull fractured and his brain exposed.

No alcohol or drug traces were found in either body.

The report also says there was “scant soot in Walker’s trachea” — suggesting he took a few breaths after impact. Sources close to the investigation, however, tell TMZ, they believe both men died almost immediately.

And the report goes on … Paul had 14% carbon monoxide saturation in his blood stream … the normal level is 2%. Roger had 10%.
